Flat Fare Fastpack - Gear List
Flat Fare Fastpack โ Dalwhinnie to Rannoch, 8/9 February 2025
The following is the gearlist for this trip. I might not do this for every fastpack that I report on, but I thought it might be useful on this occasion at least. As I have said in my fastpacking guide, I rarely heat food or drinks on a single night trip. Also, this was most definitely a winter trip into a fairly remote area in sub-zero temperatures so no shortage of kit for the conditions and for safety. From the photo, you can see how much of the overall bulk comes from just the bivy, sleeping bag and sleeping mat.

- Thermarest Questar -18C down sleeping bag, compressed in a Sea to Summit eVent compression bag.
- Nemo Tensor Extreme sleeping mat
- Silk sleeping bag liner
- Inflatable pillow

- 3L compression drybag containing Montbell Superior down T-shirt & OMM Core socks

My running clothing is entirely separate to everything listed above but will all be worn both running and overnight.
Food, as pictured, although some was transferred from original packaging into ziplock bags before the final packing stage. I take a larger ziplock bag (for leakage) for waste.
Total pack weight, including 1,000ml of water, gels and some additional running calories for Day 1 only โ 8.4kg.
